Nerima on 500T
I’ve been going on about the respooled Vision3 500T in my notes all last week, and for good reason. I brought two rolls of Flic Film Cine Colour 500T to Tokyo with me. One roll got destroyed (boo), the other was shot in Nerima during the day and Asakusa at night. The latter roll (you know, the one that wasn’t destroyed) was one that produced results that I’ve since fallen head over heels for.
I post a lot of photos; I’m aware of it. My articles are long scrolls because of it, and I know not every photo contained therein needs to be shared. But, I like the idea of giving readers a realistic sense of the places that I go to take photos. It’s about sharing the true to life experience and the good and bad photos taken during those experiences as much as it is about showing off my work, and you can’t get that by posting only bangers, that’s not the real world. And, I’m definitely not shooting enough bangers to include some in every post.
That said, there’s a lot of reasons to pull back at times and focus on presenting what you think is some of best of your work (even if they happen to live on one lucky roll where you were just on it - and being in Tokyo didn’t hurt). These are my favourite shots taken one morning in Nerima while on my way to Tamagawa.

This roll of film worked its magic in both day and night shots (I’ll share the night shots another day), giving everything that classic Vision3 cinematic appeal - even more so than the respooled 250D does in my opinion. There’s less blue cast than I was expecting as well, which was a surprise given the overcast day. In fact, I ended up cooling some of the photos down a touch in post because I was hoping for a bit more tungsten rendering.
I’ve since bought several more rolls of this surprisingly versatile stock and I’m stoked to shoot it again.
Stay focused.

Looking great! Still have a roll of 500T laying around that I should try somewhere in the near future.
Not tried this film. In fact, I've never heard of it previously. I have some 120 Cinestill in the fridge which I need to use to see if tungsten balanced is something I want to use more.
Incidentally, I like the grey train (second last shot). I wish we had something a bit more interesting in the UK....
