Out and about, out talking is such a great way to be in the space. Honestly, I bet you made her day. She probably told her friends that a photographer came to take pictures of her flowers. 😆

This is a great set of images Dan! I've got to agree - I love to walk around the residential neighbourhoods where I live and I find, if I've got my camera with me, locals going about their daily outside chores are more likely to chat. It's interesting to see a different Dartmouth to the one over here - if you are visiting I highly recommend it... and the beautiful countryside around it!

Thank you, Lin! Yeah I’ve found recently that those that are in their yards are definitely more apt to chat. Your Dartmouth sounds real nice from what you and some others have said. Hope I can make my way there next year.

Love this Dan. The cat photo gets my vote.

I live about 45mins from the og Dartmouth. A bit touristy sometimes but you'd like it if you make it across the pond

Hah, that cat acted like he owned the whole hood. Yeah I’ve heard similar, hoping to get out to the UK next year.

This is a nice post, because I grew up near the original Dartmouth in the UK. It is quaint to see other towns with the same name and see what similarities and differences there are. Thank you for this post.

Thanks Paul! If I get to the UK next year, Dartmouth is on the list for sure!

Some really great shots here! The shot with the open door, the one of the top of the building between the trees (just before you spotted the yellow Volkswagen), and the flowers that distracted you from that Volkswagen are my favorites.

Also, to be out working in the garden at 95 is a feat, I wonder what the secret is. Maybe I should spend more time out in the garden (and/or out on photo walks) 🤔

Thanks, Adam!! Super appreciate all of that.

Oh yeah, she was next level. It’s gotta be the gardening! It’s funny she didn’t ask me anything about my cameras, she was all gardening all the time.

One of my favorite things about taking photographs is the people I meet and listening to them talk about their lives and their interest interests. Must’ve been a very special moment to hear that woman talk about her garden and her life.

Yeah it was so great. Just doesn’t happen often but I’m always open to it. Do you find that happens to a lot in NYC? People are more forward there and less shy so I imagine you might get that a lot?

I talk to people, I put myself out there, so I think it happens for me more than usual. It’s like a garden, you need to cultivate it.

Very tickled by the trash bin inside another trash bin on top of another trash bin next to yet another trash bin. Or are they just plastic buckets? Love how the light hits the white railing on the stairs, and the talk with the lady sounds lovely. Great stuff, man!

Haha, thanks man! They were buckets but they were filled with trash. Trash buckets. Yeah that railing was the gift that kept on giving, got a bunch of angles and underneath it was a whole other scene but the photos were a bit too busy for my taste.
